While sleeping on the park bench, Cole's dreams seem to be calm as the air around him grows colder the further into the night it becomes. But suddenly his eyes are blasted with a bright light.
Cole groans and blinks a little as he tiredly replies, "What. what do you want..."
The light clicks off as the officer puts his flashlight away. Standing by the bench in uniform is a nonferal dog in full uniform. He places his hands on his hips, "Sir, could you please stand up for me?"
Cole looks extremely tired as he groans, grumbles and slowly stands up, "Can't a man get some fucking sleep..." he looks extremely tired.
The officer is looking Cole up and down, "Do you have a place to sleep in a building somewhere? Maybe a house?"
Cole slowly shakes his head back and forth, he's thinking of a plan but is hindered by his fatigue.
"...Hm..." The officer pauses on looking at Cole's face as his eyes narrow slightly, "Do you have any weapons on you sir?"
Cole looks down at his jacket and mutters, "...Sometimes..." he then looks back up.
The officer furrows his brow before stepping around behind Cole, "Just relax your arms for me." He then attempts to camly pull Cole's arms behind his back.
Cole suddenly looks very awake as he says at a normal volume, "Let go of me." his arms suddenly go rigid with no ability to move them.
The officer tugs on his arms, "Sir, relax your arms. I just need to detain you while we do a quick check in our system."
Cole stares at him, then relaxes his arms, "Fine..."
The officer cuffs his hands and grabs him by one arm to make sure he doesn't run. Cole stands there and lets himself get cuffed as he starts to drift asleep again.
After a while he feels as if he's sitting rather than standing in a much brighter area. Cole jolts awake as he quickly looks around.
He finds himself in a large office and handcuffed to a heavy bench. In front of him are a few desks, one with the officer sitting at a computer and typing.
Cole yanks on the handcuffs but not hard enough to break them as he groans, "When can I go back to sleeping on the bench?"
The officer responds, "As soon as you can give me your name and get this stuff cleared."
Cole groans, "I'm Cole Genesone, I'm gonna bet my entire life that I'm not in your system"
The officer glances at him, "And why is that?"
Cole shrugs as he responds, "Just a guess, not from around here."
"So where are you from?" The officer gets up from his desk.
Cole shakes his head, "You wouldn't understand it if I gave you an entire lifetime to think about it."
The officer is starting to sound a bit tired, "Humor me."
Cole sighs, "Well I use my hands to explain things so give me one second," Cole suddenly yanks on the handcuffs as the chain snaps with ease.
The officer reaches up at his radio for a button before backing up to the door.
Cole starts scanning frequencies. He moves his hands in front of him and starts explaining, "So I'm not exactly from this world, see I'm from a different world and I had some tropo blood on my fingers and snapped my fingers" He pauses for a second, "Then I appeared in a watch tower and made my way over here." The door behind the officer clicks as it locks.
Cole is able to find the frequency easily. The officer tugs on the door as he brings the radio to his mouth. He speaks with a hint of fear, "10-40."
Cole starts emitting static on the frequency as he grins, "Can I go back to my bench now? I tend to get homicidal when I'm tired, and I'd rather not catch a murder charge right now."
The officer then draws his gun and keeps it low to his side, "I suggest you take a seat right now." His hand shakes slightly.
Cole raises his hands in air, "I have no intent in harming you, lower your weapon." Cole's eyes flicker to purple for a second then back to hazel, "Lets not do anything we might regret"
The officer then uses his other hand to yank harder on the door handle in a slight panic.
It's still locked as Cole sighs and shakes his head, "It's locked, did non-ferals get dumber? Or are you just fucking panicking so hard that you can't unlock a door?"
The officer takes a second to look away from Cole to get the door unlocked.
Cole takes a step closer towards the officer when he looks away, "Can you answer me a question really quick?" The door locks again, "Did you detain me specifically because I'm human?"
The officer looks confused at the door before jerking his head and gun towards Cole, "STAY AT THE BENCH."
Cole doesn't move an inch, "Answer my question please." he keeps his hands up.
The officer keeps his gun up, "I suspected you might be under the influence of drugs, not a human. Take a step back."
Cole looks the officer in his eyes, "And what? You'll shoot one of the only humans you know about?"
"STEP BACK NOW. This is your final warning."
Cole takes one step back, "I'm not being threatening, you have no reason to shoot but I'd rather not dig bullets out of me."
The officer takes the chance to hastefully swap from his gun to his taser.
Cole shakes his head, "That's an even dumber idea..."
The officer manages to keep his tone stern, "Walk backwards to the bench and take a seat."
Cole slowly sits down, "And you think me sitting is gonna make me any less threatening? I haven't even done anything to you."
The officer turns for a moment and tries to open the door.
Suddenly, Cole gets up in a fluid motion and rushes the officer as his eyes switch to pink. The officer stumbles back into the corner as he haphazardly fires the taser.
One of the prongs sticks into Cole and the other misses entirely. Cole aims a right hook directly into the officer's temple.
The officer's head jerks from the hit as he collapses on the ground, dropping the taser.
Cole digs the barb out of himself and stops transmitting static over the radio. He unlocks and makes his way through the door.
On stepping out he finds a small well used waiting room and a set of doors to the exit. Cole walks out the exit and looks around
The moment Cole opens the exit door and looks down, he sees the cloaked brown fox nonferal from before. She now wears the cloak again and is holding a lock picking set as she looks up at him.
Cole stares at her, "What are you doing?"
She takes a step back and fumbles as she drops the lockpicks.
Cole taps his foot while waiting for an answer, "Well?"
She carefully stands upright as if she's unsure what to do. It doesn't seem like she's going to speak. She puts her arms away under the cloak.
Cole looks down at the lock picks and sighs, "Were you gonna come break me out?"
She nods her head side to side awkwardly.
Cole groans as he starts walking away, "Look, I'm gonna go try and sleep more so... if you'll excuse me."
She steps out of the way and watches as he walks down the sidewalk.
She sees Cole walk out of view as she huffs in annoyance before turning and leaving.
